Martin Piper

I was born and brought up on the Island, and live in Freshwater with my wife, our two daughters and son. I’ve been racing pretty much since graduating from university in 1994. Until recently the majority of this has been time trialling at local club level on the Island, with a little foray into road racing a few years ago.

By striking a careful balance across family, work and cycling, I have been able to structure my training and racing over the years such that I have been able to get progressively stronger and faster in the Time Trial discipline, which resulted in the repeated collecting of virtually every annual trophy within my previous club.

By 2006 I felt that I’d had long reached a point where I needed a change, so got together with Sean and Dave who shared a similar view to setting up a small dedicated team, prepared to race in a number of carefully selected mainland races, where there is a wider range of courses available with some pretty challenging competition.

This has resulted in the team you are reading about, which enjoyed a very successful debut season in 2007, and at a personal level has enabled me to achieve my quickest times in the 10, 25 and 50 mile time trial distances. This has also provided experience in competing in much larger fields, and has allowed me to qualify and compete in two of the country’s most prestigious events: the National 10mile and 25mile Time Trials, which naturally attract the best riders in the country.
